Deion Sanders and Colorado spark strong reaction with offer to four-star WR

Deion Sanders didn’t get where he is by waiting for opportunity. He creates it. And this week, Colorado’s head coach took another swing at flipping the script in Boulder — this time by extending an offer to one of the most coveted wide receivers in the 2026 class.

Daniel Odom, a four-star prospect out of national powerhouse St. John Bosco (CA), announced Thursday that he’s received an official scholarship offer from the Buffaloes. Odom, currently committed to Oklahoma, is rated as the No. 40 receiver nationally by the 247Sports composite and is known for his physical play and big-game production.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and 178 pounds, Odom hauled in 45 catches for 682 yards and five touchdowns in his junior season, including a 102-yard effort in a playoff battle against Mater Dei. That kind of performance hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“Has all the physical tools to be a dominant outside receiver at the college level,” said 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins. “Strong kid who can bully opposing corners and picks up a lot of yards after contact.”

Despite his January commitment to the Sooners, Odom has kept the recruiting window slightly cracked. “I am committed to Oklahoma… but I always want to keep my eyes open,” he told On3. With visits lined up to Washington and Florida State, Colorado is banking on becoming part of that shortlist.

Coach Sanders and wide receivers coach Jason Phillips have already made waves on the recruiting trail this spring, offering top-tier prospects and building buzz — even if Colorado’s 2026 class ranks No. 75 nationally with just two current commits. Landing Odom would be a headline-grabbing move, especially given Oklahoma’s class sits at No. 44 and climbing.

Odom has yet to announce a visit to Boulder, but with Coach Prime in pursuit, fans know anything is possible.

Colorado fans should keep a close eye on Odom’s travel plans in the coming weeks. If Boulder makes the itinerary, the Buffaloes just might be in the hunt for one of the biggest flips of the 2026 cycle.
