Deion Sanders and his staff prove doubters wrong on NFL approach

Deion Sanders and his coaching staff deserve more credit for the way they've prepared their players. Not just as athletes, but as grounded men going in the NFL.

While much attention is paid to flashy quotes like, "I ain’t hard to find" and “We comin’,” a more meaningful phrase from Coach Prime is often overlooked. “I’m not just coaching football players, I’m raising men.” This message has quietly revealed itself through the conduct and professionalism of every Colorado player in NFL rookie camps.

Travis Hunter has been praised for his kindness and humility, even going viral after an elderly woman described his respectful behavior during a flight. Shedeur Sanders, once painted as cocky, has impressed Cleveland with his work ethic and demeanor, earning respect through action, not attitude. Jimmy Horn Jr. and LaJohntay Wester have shown emotional maturity and discipline far beyond their draft slots. With Horn drawing early comparisons to Tank Dell and Wester emerging as a legitimate candidate for the Ravens' starting slot role.

Even Shilo Sanders, who many thought might respond bitterly after going undrafted, has instead exemplified grace and gratitude. His thoughtful engagement with Tampa Bay media has turned heads. He shook hands and showing genuine respect for everyone. It demonstrates real growth in Sanders' journey outside of Boulder. Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig has always been a leader. He stood out as composed and coachable, reflecting what he was known for at Colorado.

The common thread? These men were prepared for the next level. They’re focused and grateful. While critics may mischaracterize Sanders’ program as arrogant, the players’ actions tell another story.

They’ve been molded into professionals on and off the field. Every one of them has elevated their standing since the draft, and that’s no accident. Coach Prime said he’d raise men and so far, that’s exactly what he’s done.
