The Colorado Buffaloes put up their worst showing since Deion Sanders took over as the head coach in 2023 on Saturday against the Utah Utes. Colorado was down 43-0 at halftime, and the demolition was finally over with the score 53-7.

The statistics were just as lopsided as the scoreboard. Utah had 587 yards of total offense, while Colorado was able to muster just 140 yards. The Utes rushed for 422 yards, and the Buffaloes put up just 38 yards on the ground.

The Buffaloes' leading rusher in the game was Kam Mikell, who had eight carries for 44 yards. On the other side, Utah had three ball carriers who ran for more than that, including Byrd Ficklin and Wayshawn Parker, who both ran for more than 140 yards.

The time of possession was also heavily in Utah's favor, as Kyle Whittingham's team had the ball for over 33 minutes compared to just over 26 minutes for Colorado.

This loss dropped Sanders' Buffaloes to 3-5 on the season, as they have now lost three of their past four games after starting the year 2-2.

On Tuesday, On3's Zak Herbstreit, the son of ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit, released his college football Week 9 superlatives, and Colorado landed on the list.

Herbstreit listed the Buffaloes as the worst team in college football in Week 9 after suffering their largest loss in the Sanders era.

After this disappointing performance all around for Sanders and Colorado, the Buffaloes have four more games in the season, as they try to become bowl eligible for the second consecutive year.

This quest for bowl eligibility will continue on Saturday, as Colorado (3-5, 1-4 Big 12) will take on the Arizona Wildcats (4-3, 1-3 Big 12) at 7 p.m. ET at Folsom Field on FS1.
