Deion Sanders has no time for humility: 'I've got a tremendous gift and I know it'

Deion Sanders isn't for everybody, but he sure is for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Coach Prime has lit a spark in Boulder that has crescendoed to a flame now that the Buffs are 3-0 and boasts wins over last year's runner-up national champion, TCU, big-time rival Nebraska and in-state rival Colorado State.

Sanders has never been one to back down or understate who he is. And who he is, is extremely talented. He's one of the best cornerbacks in NFL history and, by the way, he coupled that with a nine-season MLB career. He's one of the greatest athletes of all time and he's proving to be a pretty darn good coach for Colorado.

He's good, he knows it, and he's not afraid to say it. Even as a coach, Prime is still the same guy who once said that "They don't pay nobody to be humble".

“When I said that, that was because I was a grown dog out there on that field,” Sanders told Bleacher Report in an interview (h/t On3). “Like I’m not gonna be humble about what I’ve got and the gifts that I have. I ain’t ever seen nobody open a present on Christmas and say, ‘Aw that was so sweet.’ No, ‘You see what I got? Yeah!'”

In a sense, Sanders is right. When you receive a gift you really love, you show it off to everybody, don't you? Sanders had incredible gifts as an athlete and so far as a coach, there's reason to believe those gifts translated. He may not be an X's and O's wizard and he doesn't have the experience of a Nick Saban, but he certainly has the charisma to lead young men and as a recruiter in this age of college football, he may be unmatched.

“I got a gift that I’ve opened and I’m thankful and proud of it, you don’t think I’m gon shout and rejoice and do my thing because of this God has given me? No. That’s what I meant by that, I’ve got a tremendous gift and I know it and I’ve perfected it by hard work, focus, and dedication,” Sanders said.

Sanders does have an undeniable gift, but it will be tested this weekend against No. 10 Oregon as his No. 19 ranked squad heads to Eugene.
