Deion Sanders might not be in the headlines as much this offseason — but that doesn’t mean he’s staying quiet.

With a new-look Colorado roster and the 2025 season approaching, Coach Prime sent a pointed message to his players and staff. It wasn’t a press conference or a viral clip — just a simple post on X. But the tone said everything.

Before even mentioning football, Sanders leaned into something deeper: accountability, protection and purpose.

This is nothing new for Sanders, who has stepped into more than just a coaching role since arriving in Boulder. He has taken pride in being a mentor — and, in many cases, a father figure — to the young men in his program. Last year, he publicly supported wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., whose father was incarcerated. Now, Sanders appears to be offering that same emotional leadership to a fresh wave of players.

The message? Watch your circle. Protect your future.

In a tweet posted Saturday, Sanders urged his players to stay grounded and focused:

“All my @CUBuffsFootball PLAYERS & STAFF. I love u @ I miss u. Please be safe & don’t do anything to jeopardize your opportunity to be a Professional. Be careful out there because everyone around u ain’t really down for u and everybody else is just there.”

It’s a sobering warning as the team prepares for a major transition.

The Buffs are entering a new era without Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter — two of the most visible stars in college football last year. Critics have questioned whether the program can hold up in their absence, especially with key positions like quarterback still unsettled.

But if there’s one thing Sanders has made clear, it’s that his role goes beyond X's and O's.
