Deion Sanders Makes Feelings Clear About Michael Irvin’s Home Visit Amid Health Issues

Colorado Buffaloes head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders' health issues have forced him to step away from Boulder.

The 57-year-old said he’s doing okay on Wednesday and will send out a health update once he returns to the team. On May 30, he appeared on former NFL defensive back Asante Samuel’s Say What Needs To Be Said” podcast and claimed “what I’m dealing with is on a whole nother level” after losing 14 pounds.

Even though it is currently unclear what he is dealing with, the health issues Sanders previously battled include blood clots in his legs, the amputation of two toes and the removal of the sides of his left calf, according to a USA Today report.

As the former Dallas Cowboys player is recovering at his estate in Texas, fellow NFL legend Michael Irvin paid him a visit on Wednesday to hopefully raise his spirits.

“My bishop always said when your loved ones are dealing with any difficult issues, you must find ways to make them laugh and change their frequency,” the 59-year-old posted on X. “I love you to life and forever, my brother @DeionSanders ❤️❤️.”

Sanders appreciated the kind words and showed his support for Irvin on Thursday.

“Thank you for coming to see me yesterday and boosting my spirits,” he wrote in a recent Instagram post. “Y’all know Mike a fool .”

As his recovery continues, Sanders could return to the Buffaloes' sidelines in the coming weeks so he can mentor and lead one of the country’s most notable teams. When the spring transfer portal opened on April 17, he recruited former Campbell Camels wide receiver Sincere Brown and Memphis Tigers offensive lineman Xavier Hill.

However, Sanders isn’t stopping there he plans to target every aspect of the team such as players, coaching staff and personnel, according to Sports Illustrated. He said the special teams unit looks solid but wants to improve every other area, including the quarterback, which will be given to Kaidon Salter or Julian Lewis.

Although there is no word on who is winning the quarterback battle between Salter and Lewis, one of them is expected to start under center in Colorado’s first game of the regular season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Aug. 29.
