Deion Sanders Makes Huge Announcement on Friday

For the third consecutive year, Colorado football has sold out its season tickets. It's a feat that hasn't been accomplished in more than two decades before Deion Sanders arrived in Boulder.

The university announced Friday that all season tickets for the upcoming 2025 season have been sold, continuing a streak that began in 2023 when Sanders’ arrived at CU.

Colorado had not sold out its season tickets since the Bill McCartney era, when the Buffaloes did so regularly. From 1989-1997, CU sold out multiple games in every season, 32 overall in a 54-game span.

CU's first known sellout was in 1952 and last year was the first time in 21 seasons that multiple games have sold out in back-to-back seasons. It was also the most games that have sold out over a two year stretch in CU history.

This marks just the 11th time in school history that season tickets have sold out before the start of the season, according to CU athletics. The buzz follows a strong 2024 campaign in which the Buffaloes finished 9-4 and reached the Alamo Bowl. Colorado has emerged as a national television draw under Sanders.

The Buffs averaged 3.86 million viewers per game last season, ranking sixth nationally, and set a program record with 13 nationally televised games. Their Alamo Bowl rematch with BYU drew 8 million viewers on ABC. The most-watched Alamo Bowl in history and the most-viewed non-New Year’s Six bowl game since 2020.

This seem to be the start of a powerhouse in Boulder. Sanders signed a five-year, $54 million contract extension in March, making him the highest-paid coach in the Big 12.

Even with quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter heading to the NFL, fan and media interest around the program remains strong. Four of the first five games in will be televised on a national network.

Coach Prime’s Buffaloes are still bringing the spotlight to Folsom Field and the rest of college football is watching.
