Deion Sanders on first Colorado recruiting class: 'We're not recruiting just no ordinary Tom, Dick and Harry'

Deion Sanders is hoping to quickly change the fate of the Colorado Buffaloes.

He'll be entering his first season as head coach, in 2023, on the heels of the Buffaloes going 1-11 and firing former head coach Karl Dorrell after an 0-5 start. Colorado certainly has a hole to dig out of, but the higher-ups clearly believe "Coach Prime" can be the guy to turn things around and there's reason to believe based on what he was able to do for Jackson State University over the last few seasons.

There's also reason to believe because of Sanders' ability to recruit. With National Signing Day come and gone, the Buffaloes have to be feeling good about the "luggage" that he's bringing through the door.

According to 247Sports, the Buffaloes had the 21st best recruiting class in the nation on Signing Day, a class that features 5-star cornerback Cormani McClain — who Sanders flipped from Miami — as well as 4-star recruits like running back Dylan Edwards, and wide receivers Adam Hopkins and Omarion Miller.

"We're not recruiting just no ordinary Tom, Dick and Harry," Sanders said on signing day, per ESPN. "We recruited some guys that can light up the scoreboard and prevent touchdowns from occurring. We're coming. We're serious about that.

"Hope is in the house. Hope is in the air. Hope is in the city. Hope is in the community."

Sanders went 27-6 and won the SWAC twice in three seasons at JSU, so there is reason to hope. The Pac-12 is going to be a different ballgame, though, but if there's a coach who has the gusto and confidence to handle it, it would be "Coach Prime".
