Deion Sanders predicted his son, Shilo Sanders, would go into acting as a new career. Whether that coincides with football remains to be seen.
Shilo Sanders, who played college football, mostly under his father, was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the summer during roster cuts. He went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Deion Sanders even recalled a time when he was almost pulled into acting. In fact, Shilo Sanders’ father nearly gave up football or baseball, but wouldn’t reveal which one.
“Once upon a time, I was gonna surrender one of the sports, I’m not gonna say which one, but to go into acting,” Sanders said on the Colorado Football Coaches Show. “And it’s almost like God pulled a carpet out of it, because the movie was gonna be shot in New Orleans. I was gonna be like this undercover cop infiltrating his corrupt police … I think that’s the avenue that, or streaming … that Shilo is gonna go down. Because he has that gift, ma … You know, it’s a very attractive personality. He’s just fun. He’s just a fun kid, man. And I’m proud of him right now. He’s had a couple interviews, couple opportunities.”
Shilo Sanders was ejected during a preseason game for the Bucs this summer, which head coach Todd Bowles called “inexcusable.” He has not been picked up since.
Shilo Sanders originally started his college career at South Carolina in 2019 before transferring after 2020 to play at Jackson State under his father. He followed him, his brother, Shedeur, and Travis Hunter to Colorado in 2023.
In two years at Colorado, Shilo Sanders had 137 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, five pass deflections, three fumble recoveries, five forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns. He aided the Buffaloes to a 9-4 season in 2024.
Funny enough, Shilo Sanders recently joked about not gifting his first game-worn jersey to his father. Now that he’s no longer in Tampa Bay, it makes all the more sense!
“He didn’t want it,” Shilo Sanders said with a laugh. “‘Cause, you know, he’s a Hall of Famer. He expects like 30 times more. He didn’t want my jersey. I’m gonna give it to my mom, though… He don’t want it. I gotta get like three picks or something for him to want that.”
Deion Sanders’ birthday happened to coincide with Shilo’s preseason debut. Alas, the 25-year-old defensive back will have to find another gift for his Hall-of-Fame father.
