Deion Sanders promotes Vincent Dancy to replace Nick Williams as Colorado's defensive end coach
Gary Cosby Jr. / USA TODAY NETWORK

Vincent Dancy will move up within Deion Sanders' staff at Colorado. The Buffs quality control analyst was promoted to defensive end coach, per an announcement by Coach Prime. He replaces recently departed assistant Nick Williams, who moves on for a similar position at Syracuse.

Dancy followed Sanders to Boulder after serving as head coach of Mississippi Valley State. The defensive assistant helped back up the efforts of Nick Williams this season, working closely with Jordan Domineck and Lavonta Bentley.

Dancy spent five seasons at MVS and posted a 10-38 record. Keep in mind, he didn't have much to work with and often faced funding issues and a lack of resources. MVS is a foe of Jackson State in the SWAC.

Sanders will have to replace five positions on his staff. Pat Shurmur will "likely" be retained as the Buffs offensive coordinator next year. He'll be joined by Warren Sapp as the newest additions. From that point on, Sanders will need a new tight end and offensive line coach. However, those positions might be condensed into one.

The Buffaloes are in the midst of a key point in the off-season with the transfer portal open. They'll have to address several needs, including a retooling of the offensive line. It's the start to a lengthy process with early Signing Day in two weeks.
