Deion Sanders says Colorado needs its fans to help change losing culture

The Colorado Buffaloes haven't had a winning record on the gridiron since 2016. They're fresh off a 1-11 season and are hoping that Deion Sanders, also known as "Coach Prime" can bring some of his former on-field magic and mesh it together with the coaching job he did at Jackson State University to produce a massive turnaround in Boulder.

It's going to be easier said than done for Sanders, but he has the confidence as well as the football and recruiting knowledge to do it. The NFL Hall of Famer, as self-assured as he is, doesn't think he can turn things around for Colorado on his own, though.

The players will have to buy in, but according to Coach Prime, the fans will have to buy in as well.

"I can't wait for the spring game, really looking forward to it, because I want to see the difference in the atmosphere and the feeling and the spirit of everything," said Sanders recently told the media, per ESPN.

"If we're going to change the game here, that means the fans have got to change, too," he continued. "We want to impact them as well. We want them to be ready for us like we want to be ready for them."

Prime didn't go into details regarding what "changing the game" might look like for Colorado fans, but one imagines that it looks like engaging, heavily, in everything from the spring game to the home opener on Sept. 9 against Nebraska.

He likely also wants the fans to hold his program to a higher standard. As mentioned, Colorado only won one game last season and the Buffaloes have just a 24-42 record in the past six seasons.
