Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders said in no uncertain terms he "won't allow" his son, former Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, to play for certain NFL teams during an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show on Friday. He went so far as to describe his possible actions as to "intervene" on where he ends up in the NFL.
"That's my son," Sanders said, as a live studio audience applauded his words.
While making the media rounds to promote his docuseries "Coach Prime," Hall discussed his son's future with the NFL Hall of Famer. She asked Sanders if he had privately told Shedeur who he would like him to play for.
“It’s not like who I would like for him to play for. It’s a couple of teams that I won’t allow him to play for. So it’s not like that. But this is my profession. I know what’s behind the curtain. We ain’t got to get back there for me to understand what’s behind the curtain and what’s not prominent for my son. I’m not doing it.”
"And what if he doesn't listen to you?" Hall asked.
"Who? You must mean the owners, not my son!" Sanders shot back with a smirk.
Shedeur is the No. 1 overall pick in Athlon's latest NFL mock draft from Luke Easterling.
Sanders finished his collegiate career with 14,327 yards, 134 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound signal-caller won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
