Will Colorado lose Deion Sanders to the NFL this offseason? That's a question floating around the college football community this week.
Sanders, 58, received plenty of praise for the job he did in 2024 at Colorado. Unfortunately for the Hall of Famer, he finished the 2025 season with a 3-9 record. Immediately after the regular season ended, he made a promise to the program.
“I’m not happy with nothing right now,” Sanders said. “I don’t think it’s a motivation thing as it’s more a part of life. This fan base, the school, Rick (Georgie)... everybody deserves better than this, and they expected better than this. I expected to be much better than this and we’re going to give them much better than this…starting tomorrow."
Sanders plans on coaching the Buffaloes this fall. Former NFL star Adam "Pacman" Jones, however, was asked if Sanders could leave for the NFL.
Jones claims the legendary cornerback would only be interested in coaching the Cleveland Browns. That makes sense considering they drafted Shedeur Sanders in 2025.
"I can see it happen. Me knowing Prime, it would have to be Cleveland," Jones said. "He’s not going to go and coach against Shedeur, that’s first and foremost. Knowing him, he's going to want to finish what he started in Boulder. I think he stays there."
As of this Friday, the Browns haven't shown any interest in Deion Sanders. To be fair, the franchise hasn't even said if Shedeur will be the Week 1 starter for the 2026 season.
The Browns have either interviewed or have planned an interview with the following candidates:
NFL insider Benjamin Allbright ultimately believes the Browns will hire Schwartz as their head coach.
“This one felt the toughest to me because it has additional moving parts and some of the guys that they’re looking at can’t even put together full staffs,” Allbright said. “I’m gonna go with Schwartz (I know they’d like to retain him as DC if it all possible) but Udinski is my backup guess.”
Cleveland's search for its next head coach should heat up by the start of next week.
