One player can change the entire mindset of a position room. That’s the case for former Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming, who hit the transfer portal and is now wearing Blue and White for the Penn State football team. The position room needed maturity, leadership, and someone who can hold others accountable. Fleming checks all of those boxes as he’s been coached by and around some of the best wide receiver talent in the world. Penn State quarterbacks Drew Allar and Beau Pribula have shared their initial thoughts about working with Fleming.

Drew Allar shares first impressions of Julian Fleming

With winter workouts underway, players are starting to bond with each other and learn more about one another. The Penn State football team landed a few massive transfers this offseason. However, Julian Fleming is arguably the biggest addition to the team.

Drew Allar will have a new potential No.1 wide receiver to target this fall and has had nothing but great things to say about Fleming. Allar told 247sports, “I think he’s been really good for the whole team.” Allar continued, “He’s really connected well with that whole receivers room. The receivers have done a great job of just working really hard. Julian brings a great mindset to that room.”

Beau Pribula opens up about transfer portal addition

We saw QB Beau Pribula be utilized more and more at the end of the 2023 season. There’s a good chance under Andy Kotelnicki his role will continue to expand. However, he was able to discuss his thoughts on being around Julian Fleming.

Pribula explained to 247sports, “It’s been really good,” Pribula said. “He’s an older guy, so I think he brings a different element to the receivers room. I think he’s gonna be a good leader. He’s kind of taken some guys under his wing so far, which was a really good thing to see.”

Leadership and accountability are what the wide receivers lacked in 2023. Fleming can bring those leadership qualities while also becoming a productive player in this offense in 2024.
