Elijah Sarratt Scouting Report

Here's everything NFL Draft fans need to know about Indiana wide receiver Elijah Sarratt:

Height: 6-2

Weight: 202

Age: 22

Strengths

A wide receiver’s primary trait should always be the ability to catch the ball consistently, and Sarratt’s hands are absolute magnets. His hand-eye coordination is superb, with the ability to track the ball and grab it away from his frame, or use late movement to surprise defenders and win contested-catch situations on slot fades and back-shoulder throws. He’s a smart player who shows a high understanding of leverage and coverages, as well as the situational awareness to match his route depth to the sticks and set his defender up for failure, especially in clutch situations. Sarratt has sound route-running skills, with sharp movements in and out of his breaks, and he uses his size to absorb contact without dropping to ball or missing out on additional yardage after the catch.

Weaknesses

Sarratt doesn’t have the straight-line speed to threaten opposing defenses over the top, and he lacks the explosiveness and short-area burst to be a consistent big-play threat after the catch. His size is an advantage against press coverage, but he needs to develop better releases off the line of scrimmage. Improving his hand usage and footwork would help him create more initial separation at the snap, which would help mitigate his lack of speed and explosiveness.

Final Analysis

He may never be a burner who scares opposing defenses with his ability to take the top off, but what Sarratt does well, he does extremely well. His reliable hands and consistency at the catch point, even with significant contact, should be enough to carve out a valuable starting role in any offense that needs a consistent chain-mover who makes his best plays in the most critical moments.
