Elite 2026 RB Recruit Announces Top 10
Adam Hagy-USA TODAY Sports

Class of 2026 running back Jonaz Walton has narrowed down his recruiting interests to 10 schools.

On Sunday, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported that the Auburn Tigers were in the mix for the running back. Florida, Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee and Stanford are also in the running.

Walton comes in at 5-foot-9, 190 pounds and attends Central High School in Carrollton, Georgia.

He also holds offers from SEC programs like South Carolina, Texas A&M, Texas, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss.

As a freshman, Walton hit the ground running, recording 1,644 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns in 12 games.

Walton is a four-star prospect in the 2026 class. He is the No. 4 running back and No. 5 prospect from Georgia, per On3 Sports

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine believes that Auburn has a 10.8% chance of landing Walton. The Tigers are behind Alabama (24.5%) and Georgia (28%).

Auburn's 2026 recruiting class is No. 4 overall and No. 2 in the SEC on On3 Sports. If Walton does pick the Tigers he would be the first running back commit for head coach Hugh Freeze from the class.

Walton would join a class that features four-star edge rusher Hezekiah Harris, four-star receiver Devin Carter, four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle, four-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett, four-star Denairius Gray and three-star safety Wayne Henry

Walton has already taken a trip to Auburn, making an unofficial visit there in August.

Auburn finished the 2024 season with a 5-7 record, effectively missing the postseason. Freeze took the program to the Music City Bowl in 2023 against Maryland but lost 31-13 and is still searching for his first bowl victory.

The Tigers begin the 2025 season against Baylor on Aug. 30.
