During the first half of the Aggies Maroon & White game, head coach Mike Elko and his staff received some major news.
At just about the halfway point of the first quarter, elite ATH George Lamons Jr. announced he is committing to Texas A&M. The 6’3”, 213 pound star should prove to be an instant game changer for the Aggies, as Mike Elko continues to add to an already impressive recruiting effort. During his sophomore season, Lamons Jr. recorded an impressive 63 receptions for 1,340 yards while also scoring 20 touchdowns. The elite ATH was also credited for 7 tackles, with a fumble recovery as well. The four star recruit is currently ranked as the No. 6 athlete in the 2027 class, and the No. 29 overall prospect nationally. With the commitment of Lamons Jr., Texas A&M officially has their first recruit of the 2027 class and will be expected to continue adding talent to an already star studded Aggies future.
Lamons Jr. should provide the Aggies’ offense with some much needed depth, as the future star is expected to play wide receiver and pair nicely next to 2026 Texas A&M commit Aaron Gregory. The Quitman, Georgia native chose the Aggies over multiple powerhouse programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Tennessee, Wisconsin and several others.
With one of the best 2026 recruiting classes in the nation, the Aggies continue to add elite prospects to their program with the future in College Station looking as bright as ever.
