A pair of College Football Playoff teams are leading the way for one of the top offensive tackles in the class of 2026.
Immanuel Iheanacho (6-foot-6, 345 pounds) hails from Rockville, Maryland, where he plays for Georgetown Preparatory School. The five-star tackle is rated as the No. 2 OT, the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 2 player nationally, according to 247Sports.
Elite high school prospects like Iheanacho are few and far between, making his recruitment one of the most intriguing in the class. And several college football powerhouses are believed to be in the hunt for a commitment from the blue-chip tackle.
Two programs are currently at the top of the list for Iheanacho as he prepares for his senior year, including Oregon and Georgia, who have separated themselves from the rest of the pack ahead of their playoff appearances, per On3's Hunter Shelton.
No. 1 seed Oregon is in the midst of a special season under third-year head coach Dan Lanning. The Ducks sit 13-0 ahead of their matchup against No. 8 Ohio State in the Rose Bowl quarterfinal on New Year's Day.
The Bulldogs (11-2), led by ninth-year head coach Kirby Smart, secured the No. 2 seed and are preparing to take on No. 7 Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinal on New Year's Day.
Both programs finished within the top five of 247Sports' 2025 recruiting rankings.
Interestingly enough, Lanning served on Smart's staff as linebackers coach and defensive coordinator during Georgia's national championship season in 2021. The two also coached together under Nick Saban at Alabama in 2015.
Iheanacho, who is also considering Penn State, Maryland, Ohio State and Alabama, has plenty of time to narrow down his choices before making a commitment.
