While the matchup is still more than three months away, DraftKings Sportsbook has the game listed in favor of Kansas State by 3.5.
In 2024, Iowa State outlasted Kansas State in Ames, 29-21, in a game where both quarterbacks found the end zone three times. Rocco Becht went 13-35 for 137 yards, two scores through the air, and one on the ground, while K-State’s Avery Johnson went 12-28 for 220 yards and three scores.
Both teams replace some major production in 2025, with Iowa State looking to make up for two NFL-bound wideouts, and Kansas State hopes to bolster the run game with elite running back DJ Giddens doing the same.
The Wildcats appear to be more equipped to handle the change as they returned a talented playmaker in the backfield, Dylan Edwards, for his junior season in Manhattan. Operating behind Giddens last fall, Edwards posted nearly 700 yards of total offense with seven total touchdowns.
For Iowa State, the group looked to the transfer portal to address their need at receiver. Transfers Chase Sowell and Xavier Townsend appear to be next in line, and if they can make a jump in 2025, the Cyclones could repeat their historic season from one year prior.
That all kicks off in exactly 101 days, in Dublin, Ireland.
