ESPN Discusses What's Next For Notre Dame's Jaden Greathouse After 2024 Post Season Breakout
Mark J Rebilas, USA TODAY Sports

There aren't many wide receivers who finished their season better than Notre Dame's Jaden Greathouse. His breakout in the final two games of the post season were unexpected to many, but long overdue to the Irish faithful. The Texas native had strung together some nice performances throughout the season, but due to his lack of numbers in the regular season, few coined him as one of Notre Dame's biggest offensive threats in the playoffs.

"Few pegged Greathouse to be Notre Dame's top offensive performer that night, especially with a national championship berth on the line, but that's what happened. He had a career-high 105 receiving yards, catching passes all seven times he was targeted in a 27-24 Fighting Irish victory.

Eleven days later, in the national championship against Ohio State, Greathouse set another career best with 128 receiving yards, and had his first multi-touchdown performance of the season, as the Irish fell 34-23. Just like that, Greathouse had changed the trajectory of his career." - Adam Rittenburg, ESPN

Greathouse's performance in the final two games of the 2024 season will be remembered for quite some time, but the 6-1, 215-pound Austin native has been making clutch plays for the Irish since his arrival. Last year, 25 of his 42 receptions went for first downs, 10 of them came in the post season. Over the course of his career, Greathouse has been targeted 80 times and has only recorded one drop. It was evident, early on, that he would be an impact player from the moment he stepped foot on the field.

"His first collegiate reception went for a touchdown in Notre Dame's 2023 opener against Navy in Ireland, and he finished with two scores and a team-high 68 yards. Greathouse had only three more touchdowns the rest of his freshman season, but he led the team in the category, while only making five starts." - Adam Rittenburg, ESPN

Against two of the better defenses in the country, Greathouse rattled off a combined 13 receptions for 233 yards and three receiving touchdowns. This season, he'll be joined in the starting lineup by Virginia transfer Malachi Fields giving Notre Dame a dynamic one-two punch at the receiver position, something they haven't had in quite some time. Greathouse is confident in his ability to start the 2025 season off with a bang.

"Obviously, we didn't have any games after those last two," Greathouse said to ESPN. "I'm just trying to start the season off hot, make a difference for my team immediately and make sure that my presence is felt. Everything else will take care of itself."
