ESPN reveals 'College GameDay' kickoff details

Can you feel the excitement? Football is back, and that means it's time to get ready to watch college football action on Saturdays and the NFL on Sundays.

On Tuesday, ESPN revealed details on the 40th season of their popular "College GameDay" show. The program is entering its 40th season, but it's also marking its 33rd year of doing shows on the road.

"'College GameDay Built by The Home Depot' is back," ESPN stated in a show announcement. "The 40th season of 'College GameDay' is kicking off its 33rd year of road shows. Rece Davis hosts the three-hour show joined by analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Nick Saban at the desk."

'College GameDay' is ready for another season on the road

The first college football pregame show will run on both ESPN and ESPNU from 9 a.m. to noon ET, per the network.

For Week 1, "College GameDay" will be in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the Clemson vs. LSU game. For Week 2, the show will be in Austin for Ohio State against Texas.

So, what is "College GameDay?" As ESPN describes it, the show is a "weekly, three-hour traveling television program that sets up shop at college campuses for marquee matchups. College football takes center stage in the fall. In the winter, the program shifts its focus to college basketball."

For some fun history, ESPN adds that "'GameDay' first aired in 1987 as an in-studio show with host Tim Brando and analysts [Lee] Corso and Beano Cook."

So, get your popcorn ready for another jam-packed season of road shows. If you're lucky, they'll come to a stadium near you.
