ESPN revealed their 2025 post-spring top 25 college football rankings and the Tennessee Vols were nowhere to be found.
The Vols were ranked at No. 19 in ESPN's pre-spring rankings.
ESPN dropped Tennessee from their top 25 rankings due to the transfer of quarterback Nico Iamaleava (UCLA).
"Tennessee fell out of the rankings after losing quarterback Nico Iamaleava to the portal," wrote ESPN's Mark Schlabach.
Boise State was the only other team that ESPN dropped from their post-spring top 25 rankings.
Texas Tech and Oklahoma replaced Tennessee and Boise State in ESPN's rankings.
It may be frustrating for Vols fans to see that ESPN isn't big on Tennessee ahead of the 2025 season without Iamaleava under center, but it's understandable considering all of the unknowns on Rocky Top.
Tennessee could easily be a top 10 team by the end of the season, but with the program breaking in an almost completely new offensive line, a new wide receiver group, and a new starter at quarterback, it's nearly impossible to forecast what the Vols will look like this fall.
UT will get plenty of chances early in the season, however, to prove that they're a top 25 team with tough matchups against Syracuse and Georgia on the schedule in the first few weeks of the season.
