The Auburn Tigers head into 2025 after a disappointing 5-7 season under head coach Hugh Freeze.

Freeze has not had a winning season since taking the job in 2023.

ESPN's FPI updated its odds for various metrics heading into the 2025 season. It gave Auburn a 21.8% chance to make the College Football Playoff.

The Tigers have not made the CFP since it was first introduced to college football in 2014. The last time Auburn played for a national championship was in the 2013 season.

The Tigers lost to Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles that season, 34-31 at the Rose Bowl.

Auburn's roster will undergo a significant overhaul this season, following the utilization of the transfer portal.

Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold, former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets wideout Eric Singleton Jr. and former Virginia Tech Hokies offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin highlight the Tigers' transfer class.

Auburn is also returning the likes of receiver Cam Coleman, offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner, linebacker Demarcus Riddick and defensive back Jay Crawford.

The Tigers' 2025 recruiting class was also full of top talent. Auburn's class is highlighted by five-star quarterback Deuce Knight, four-star defensive lineman Malik Autry and four-star edge rusher Jared Smith

Things are trending in the right direction for Auburn in the 2026 class as well. The Tigers were named a finalist for five-star safety Jireh Edwards and four-star defensive lineman Nolan Wilson

Auburn last made a bowl game in 2021 under former head coach Bryan Harsin. Freeze begins year number three with the Tigers against the Baylor Bears on August 29.

Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
