The Penn State Nittany Lions will take a breather this Saturday before their massive "White Out" game. Nationally-ranked Oregon isn't the only one coming to Beaver Stadium on Sept. 27, though.
Penn State will draw eyes for another reason: A rising quarterback sensation and potential Drew Allar successor will be visiting for the game.
Eyes will shift to the sidelines beforehand of that highly-anticipated Big Ten battle. Tom Loy of 247Sports shared five-star QB Elijah Haven will be attending the PSU-Oregon game.
Haven will make the journey from Baton Rouge to State College in eight days.
Is the 6-foot-5 class of 2027 passer already a high priority for James Franklin and company? Haven shared where the interest lies for PSU.
"Honestly, Penn State reached out kind of late, but they were interested," Haven recently told 247Sports' Mike Roach. "Me and my family are open to build a relationship and getting to know other schools. Penn State was one of those schools."
Another words, the Lions haven't extended an offer. But still, his future visit sparks intrigue that PSU will indeed make a serious run at him.
The Dunham School star is more than the top QB for his class per 247Sports. He's the state of Louisiana's third-rated overall prospect.
Andrew Ivins of 247Sports is one who likes Haven's ceiling.
"Supersized quarterback with first-round pick potential if he can put it all together. Possesses an excellent combination of strength and athleticism to go along with impressive competitive drive and football character," the national analyst Ivins wrote in his prospect evaluation.
Cody Bellaire of On3/Rivals was another who raved about Haven as he walked into his freshman season.
"Going to grow into a giant in my opinion. Big, athletic kid who could genuinely grow out of the quarterback position. Live arm that has the world in front of him. Not sure what he will become, but he will definitely be a household name for years to come," Bellaire predicted back in 2023.
Haven earned MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year honors after accounting for 56 touchdowns. He threw for 3,093 passing yards, 37 touchdowns while adding 925 rushing yards and 19 more scores.
He's also a basketball star -- earning District and Defensive Most Valuable Player awards at Dunham as a 10th grade talent.
Haven already holds 14 offers for football -- with Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU the ones recruiting him the hardest. But now Penn State can throw a curve ball into his recruitment if talks heat up between now and the end of September visit.
