Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama has its first player from this NFL Draft to sign a rookie contract.

DeMarcco Hellams, a former safety for the Crimson Tide, has signed his rookie deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

He got selected in the seventh round, No. 224 overall, following his career at Alabama. Aaron Wilson, who covers the NFL and the Houston Texans for KPRC Channel 2 in Houston, reports Hellams’ deal is for four years and worth $3.946 million.

Hellams also got a $106,300 signing bonus.

He led the Tide for total tackles in 2022 (108) and had three tackles for loss, a sack, seven pass breakups, a quarterback hurry, a forced fumble, and an interception. Hellams was one of ten players that got drafted into the National Football League for Alabama.
