Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava will get a fresh start in 2025 as he takes over as UCLA's starting quarterback after spending two seasons in Knoxville.
Iamaleava, who led Tennessee to its first ever College Football Playoff appearance last season, transferred to UCLA earlier this spring.
The former five-star recruit is from Southern California, which makes UCLA a natural fit.
Iamaleava and the Bruins will play in a couple of notable matchups this fall as UCLA has games against Ohio State, Penn State, and USC on the schedule.
One game, though, that Iamaleava's father, Nic, is particularly looking forward to is the Bruins' home game against Nebraska on November 8 -- specifically because the game will involve two highly-rated quarterbacks (Iamaleava and Dylan Raiola, who is also a former five-star recruit).
Nic Iamaleava told On3 earlier this month that he's "excited" for the game between UCLA and Nebraska.
“It’s going to be huge,” said Nic. “Dylan’s a great kid. Great family. Trained together with the boys back home. It’s been great seeing him on campus. He’s doing amazing things here. I’m excited for him.”
Nic Iamaleava was in Lincoln recently with Team TOA, his seven-on-seven team.
There will certainly be plenty of eyes on Nico this fall as the former Vol looks to elevate his game to the next level. And the matchup against Raiola and the Cornhuskers should provide for plenty of offensive fireworks.
