3,297 is the current amount of undergraduate students calling themselves Golden Hurricane, according to Tulsa athletics. Among them is Davis Brin, who’s going to be the nation’s most improved quarterback in 2022.

Davis Brin Plays His Best Against Biggest Competition

After an embarrassing season-opening loss to FCS UC Davis 19-17 (-23′), the first-year starter began playing like a veteran in midseason form against the OSUs.

Brin went 19 for 27 with 224 yards passing against Oklahoma St and threw for 428 yards on 31 completions against Ohio St, both narrow road defeats.

Brin Has Top Target Back

Wide receiver Keylon Stokes missed the Ohio St game. He averaged a career-low 13.5 yards per reception and received a medical redshirt for 2021 after playing in just four games.

Stokes is a multiple-time 2nd Team AAC performer and former 1,000-yard receiver. He’s back this season.

Playmakers Galore

Without Stokes, Brin still has playmakers around him. This began showing at the end of last season.

Brin threw for 275 ypg over Tulsa’s final three contests, all wins (and covers).

Among his returning weapons, former Texas A&M transfer Deneric Prince had 524 rushing yards in just three starts (10 games). Prince is considered the #1 option out of the backfield.

Running back Anthony Watkins received postseason honors after racking up 634 yards rushing on just 86 carries last season. Watkins is a former Missouri transfer who is also an electric return specialist.

Starting tight end Ethan Hall should improve as a receiver and provide security both in the pass and run game.

Wideout JuanCarlos Santana (4th Team AAC) will be able to play alongside Stokes this season rather than step into his spot.

Davis Brin Will Produce

Barring injuries, Brin has plenty to work with. He should put up huge numbers this season.

His familiarity with his top targets and the strength of his run game will allow Brin to flourish in 2022.

After a pedestrian 2021, he should be the most improved quarterback in FBS this season.
