Week 12 of college football doesn't offer many massive marquee matchups, but the LSU vs. Florida SEC rivalry is one that every fan understands is a huge deal. LSU has dominated this rivalry for much of the last decade, but every game is close when it's played in Gainesville.
Brian Kelly and LSU have beaten some of the best teams in the country, but they're coming off of two ugly losses. Billy Napier was just on the hot seat not too long ago, but now his quarterback DJ Lagway looks like may offer hope for the future. Which team will look like they actually have something to be excited about moving forward?
Heading into this epic battle between the Tigers and the Gators media members of A to Z Sports who cover both teams decided to weigh in, sharing their predictions for this program trajectory-defining SEC rivalry game.
The LSU Tigers just saw all their hopes and dreams coming crash down last weekend against Alabama. However, the players should still be able to get up for this rivalry game. If Florida QB DJ Lagway is indeed at the helm they're going to struggle to stop his mobility, but the pass rush should do enough to bother him in the passing game. After making a few mechanical adjustments Garrett Nussmeier will finally stop throwing interceptions this week, which will be enough to give the Tigers a close victory over Florida. - Travis May
This game is going to come down to one main factor: Will D.J. Lagway play? If he does, Lagway will be enough for the Gators to make this a really close game. If he doesn't get hurt against Georgia, there is a real chance the Gators win that game too, as they were leading 13-6 when he injured his hamstring. If Lagway misses another game, they really don't have much of a chance, as Aidan Warner isn't a Power-4 caliber quarterback. Playing well could have a massive impact on next year's team, as the Gators are hosting two five-star cornerbacks on Saturday, including LSU five-star + commit DJ Pickett. - Tyler Forness
LSU is a very underwhelming football program this season, struggling to run the football with major turnover issues from quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Despite that, they are just more talented than the Florida Gators right now, and healthier. Expect an ugly game early, but LSU eventually pulls away in the second half. - Ryan Roberts
LSU looked terrible last week, losing the trench battle on both sides of the ball against Alabama. That doesn't happen this week, as Florida lacks the coaching and talent to compete where it matters most. Garrett Nussmeier and the LSU offense are much sharper against less-disciplined and talented defenses, which will allow them to find the end zone plenty of times. - Ian Valentino
