Five Big 12 Coaches Listed in CBS Sports’ Top 25 Rankings for 2025

The Big 12 Conference is home to some of the nation’s best football coaches, and several individuals at CBS Sports noted that fact on Wednesday.

Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports ranked his Top 68 coaches, all at the Power Four level, and included five Big 12 coaches inside the Top 25.

The five coaches included in the Top 25 include Iowa State’s Matt Campbell, Utah’s Kyle Whittingham, Kansas State’s Chris Klieman, Kansas’ Lance Leipold, and Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham.

Official rankings for all of the Big 12’s coaches are below.

• No. 10 – Matt Campbell, Iowa State
• No. 11 – Kyle Whittingham, Utah
• No. 14 – Chris Klieman, Kansas State
• No. 15 – Lance Leipold, Kansas
• No. 18 – Kenny Dillingham, Arizona State
• No. 26 – Kalani Sitake, BYU
• No. 33 – Deion Sanders, Colorado
• No. 34 – Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State
• No. 35 – Sonny Dykes, TCU
• No. 38 – Dave Aranda, Baylor
• No. 41 – Willie Fritz, Houston
• No. 42 – Rich Rodriguez, West Virginia
• No. 48 – Joey McGuire, Texas Tech
• No. 60 – Scott Satterfield, Cincinnati
• No. 62 – Scott Frost, UCF
• No. 66 – Brent Brennan, Arizona

Some of the biggest surprises on the list came when discussing coaches outside of the Top 40. While Willie Fritz is a tough one to place this low on the list due to his reputation as a program builder, his stock is a bit unpredictable coming off of his first year at Houston.

The biggest notice, however, comes when discussing Joey McGuire at Texas Tech. Checking in at No. 48, McGuire has a resume comparable to that of multiple coaches ahead of him. That said, his production with the talent he’s had in Lubbock over the past few years has definitely brought in some skeptics.

While it’s still pretty early on to judge some of the Big 12’s coaches, the list is sure to shake up in a drastic way after what can only be viewed as another turbulent year in the deepest conference in America.
