Five Possible Replacements for Michigan's Tyler Morris After Transfer News
USA TODAY Sports

Michigan football fans got tough news on Tuesday as it was announced that one of the program's top receivers, Tyler Morris, is transferring from Ann Arbor with one year of eligibility remaining.

The news means the Wolverines' passing game will have to find a suitable replacement going forward among several options on their current roster, in their upcoming recruiting class, and potentially in the transfer portal.

Morris is famous for his Rose Bowl catch and run against Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide on New Year's Day, 2024, when he outraced a secondary full of star players en route to the end zone to give the Wolverines a 14-7 lead.

Michigan's current roster features plenty of guys who should be able to carry the torch from Morris, a high school friend of JJ McCarthy's who caught 23 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns this season for departing offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell's unit.

Morris ranked second in receiving behind Colston Loveland this season. The Wolverines have plenty of options to replace Morris' production, including holdovers, freshmen and potential transfers.

Here are five players who will most likely carry the torch going forward as Morris prepares to move on to a new team:

5. Donaven McCulley-

The Wolverines have been crystal balled to possibly receive the services of the former Indiana Hoosiers receiver, who had 66 catches for 834 yards and eight touchdowns during his three-year Hoosiers career.

McCulley is a 6-foot-5, 203 pound wideout from Indianapolis who could add a much-needed deep threat to Michigan's offense.

4. Frederick Moore-

A star of Michigan's Spring Game and a former four-star prospect, Moore has the talent to become Tyler Morris 2.0 for the Wolverines.

He has the speed, awareness, and run-after-the-catch skills to become a star next season if he continues working and builds off of this season.

3. Channing Goodwin-

A four-star wide receiver from last season's recruiting class, Goodwin has the tools to ascend fast in Michigan's program. Goodwin played on special teams vs. Indiana this season, his first action of the season. Expect bigger things going forward from the Providence Day (North Carolina) High School alumnus.

2. Marlin Klein-

Klein plays tight end but could help to fill the void left by Morris next season by becoming a chain-moving third down target for the Wolverines.

1. Kendrick Bell-

The brother of former Wolverine and recently waived San Francisco 49er Ronnie Bell, Kendrick Bell threw a reverse pass against Ohio State to Morris that resulted in a pass interference penalty.

His bloodlines and versatile talents give him a chance to become the next Tyler Morris for coach Sherrone Moore's team next season.
