Florida being investigated by NCAA for potential violation
Florida HC Billy Napier Jordan Prather-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Gators are being investigated by the NCAA, possibly over their high-profile recruitment of quarterback Jaden Rashada, which ended in a mess.

Florida received a notice of inquiry from the NCAA on June 9 relating to a potential violation. Though neither Rashada nor the nature of the violation were mentioned in the letter, Action Network's Brett McMurphy reported on Friday that the investigation is related to Rashada.

Rashada was enticed to sign with Florida by an NIL deal that reportedly would have paid him $13.85 million over four years. However, he asked to be released from the Letter of Intent he signed in Dec. 2022 after the deal fell through.

The Gator Collective, which had arranged the deal with Rashada, has since been shut down.

Florida released Rashada from his letter of intent in January and the quarterback later committed to Arizona State and subsequently played for the Sun Devils this past season.

Rashada appeared in three games for ASU during the 2023 season and passed for 485 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.
