Florida Gators are being oddly rewarded for two brutal losses and it could be just what the program needs
Stephen Lew-Imagn Images

The Florida Gators are now 1-2 on the season, going into a huge game against the rival Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables on Saturday night. We knew that the game was going to be a night game, and it will officially be at 7:30 ET on ABC. However, that's not the only announcement that happened at the end of the 20-10 loss against the LSU Tigers.

ESPN's College Gameday will be heading to Coral Gables for the Gators taking on the Hurricanes.

Florida Gators vs. Miami Hurricanes chosen for ESPN College Gameday

This is the first time that both Florida and Miami will be featured on College Gameday this season.

  • Week 1: Texas Longhorns vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
  • Week 2: Michigan Wolverines vs. Oklahoma Sooners
  • Week 3: Georgia Bulldogs vs. Tennessee Volunteers

There weren't a lot of great games to choose from in week 4. There are only three current top-25 matchups on the docket.

  • 24 Auburn Tigers vs. 13 Oklahoma Sooners
  • 11 South Carolina vs. 25 Missouri Tigers
  • 9 Illinois Fighting Illini vs. 22 Indiana Hoosiers

Gameday was just at Oklahoma two weeks ago and South Carolina might be without starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers after leaving the 31-7 loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores.

This will be the 43rd time the Gators will be on College Gameday and they have a 26-16 record in said games. They have made the third-most appearances on the program. Miami on the other hand has made the 15th-most appearances with 26 and will host their ninth College Gameday. They have a record of 16-9 in those games.

Oddly enough, this is the fourth time that the Gators and Hurricanes will be the focus of College Gameday

  •  Aug. 24, 2019: No. 8 Florida 24, Miami 20 in Orlando, FL
  •  Sept. 6, 2008: No. 5 Florida 26, Miami 3 in Gainesville, FL
  •  Sept. 7, 2002: No. 1 Miami 41, No. 6 Florida 16 in Gainesville, FL

Will the appearance on Gameday end up being a turning point for the Gators? Can they use this as a rallying cry going into the bye week and make a game of it against Texas? We will find out soon enough.
