Florida Gators in heated battle for top recruit with multiple bitter rivals at position of need
Doug Engle/Gainesville Sun

The Florida Gators continue to get hot on the recruiting trail with momentum building for head coach Billy Napier. The focus as of late has been on the trenches, especially the defensive line. They haven't forgotten about other positions, though, as wide receiver has multiple targets.

Napier has found himself in another recruiting battle for a top wide receiver, as four-star Craig Dandridge, including the Gators in his top six schools.

Dandridge is a four-star recruit out of Milton, Georgia and the 37th-ranked wide receiver in the nation, according to On3 Sports. The wide receiver spot is one that is currently in a good place, but the Gators need depth long-term.

The Gators have only had one visit so far with Dandridge, coming on March 11th. It was an unofficial visit, and they don't have an official one scheduled as of yet. Getting one scheduled will be something to monitor, especially with four of their biggest competitors for Dandridge already have an official visit scheduled or concluded one:

  • Stanford: May 16th
  • Georgia: May 30th
  • Georgia Tech: June 6th
  • Tennessee: June 13th

The other factor here is that Georgia and Tennessee are two of the Gators' biggest rivals. Being able to take a recruit from them would be good from both a roster building perspective and public relations as well.

With Eugene Wilson III (likely) and J. Michael Sturdivant set to enter the NFL Draft after the season, a player like Dandridge could slide in and be a contributor.
