The Florida Gators just finished spring practice, where they had a great finish with the Orange & Blue game. The game had multiple players stand out, recruiting is ramping up in a major way, and DJ Lagway is about to start throwing again.
There are some other intriguing elements with the Gators to keep an eye on, and one of those is the coaching staff. Head coach Billy Napier has added two analysts to the staff in Roy Istvan and James Carpender with the focus being on the offensive line.

The Gators have a very experienced offensive line with multiple players who have first round aspirations, including Austin Barber and Jake Slaughter. Brigning in more talented minds to help work with them is a good thing.
Istvan has been coaching since 1990 when he got his start at Southern Connecticut. After spending 11 years there, Istvan made his way to Buffalo where he got his first D-1 experience. Most importantly, he spent the last six years in the National Footbal League with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2019-2023 and last season with the Cleveland Browns, both of which he was the assistant offensive line coach.
Spending five years with Jeff Stoutland, who is widely viewed as the best offensive line coach in the NFL is a great line on your resume. He's well known by many for this rant on Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North.

Carpenter has a different path, as he was a first round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2011. He played with five teams in his NFL Career before hanging it up after the 2021 season. This is his first venture into coaching, but his experience in the NFL should be a great asset for the Gators offensive line.
