Florida Gators once again play second fiddle to a five-star recruit but have others prospects ready to go

The Florida Gators have been working hard to get five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan to commit. It was a difficult battle to get into the mix, but it ultimately came up short, as Morgan committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday.

Cederian Morgan spurs Florida for Alabama

It was tough at first for the Gators to recruit Morgan, as the majority of his attention was focused on in-state schools Alabama and Auburn. They were able to get him on campus four times, including an official visit on the weekend of June 6th. That visit made a big mark on Morgan and vaulted the Gators into his top two schools.

Morgan currently ranks as the number 15 player in the nation and the number two wide receiver in the On3 Sports Industry Ranking. He profiles as an X receiver at 6'4 and 210 lbs who can step in and be an impact player for the Gators as a true freshman, especially with J.Michael Sturdivant set to graduate after the season.

Morgan picking Alabama isn't much of a surprise, as he's been trending that way for some time. He's such a big deal that Terrell Owens came to his commitment.

Where do the Gators go from here when it comes to wide receiver? They are looking hard at multiple targets after securing four-star Marquez Daniel and four-star Justin Williams

Currently, the Gators are pressing hard for a couple of other high-profile receivers. Four-star Davian Groce is similar to Percy Harvin, and wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales coached him when he was at Florida. That link could prove to be pivotal for the Gators to land him, as he's a very explosive athlete.

The other is four-star Somourian Wingo . Out of St. Augustine, Florida, he's been on the Gators' radar for some time, and is likely to commit with an 87.2% likelihood to commit to Billy Napier.

Neither guy has quite the profile that Morgan does, but things aren't going to be
