The 2026 recruiting class for the Florida Gators is starting to take shape as we are in the midst of the official visits portion of the offseason.
Head coach Billy Napier is taking advantage of that time, including their major recruiting event this past weekend when they made a lot of progress with multiple recruits, including two commitments in three-star offensive lineman G'Nivre Carr and four-star safety Kaiden Hall.
This upcoming weekend will see more official visits, including a star wide receiver.
One of the big things that the coaching staff needs to get done is building relationships with each recruit. Those are paramount for securing a commitment. If you don't have a great relationship, it'll be nearly impossible to get a commitment.
The Gators are set to host a talented in-state four-star wide receiver Somourian Wingo, someone they have built up a great relationship with.
Ahead of his official visit to #Florida, 4-star WR Somourian Wingo has built a strong connection with wide receivers’ coach, Billy Gonzales.

He looks forward to seeing that bond in person on his visit.

Out of Saint Augustine, Florida, Wingo is the 25th-ranked wide receiver and 168th-ranked recruit in the nation per the On3 Sports Industry Ranking. He's also got size at 6'3 and 180 lbs, something the Vikings could use on the outside.
It's not a surprise that Wingo has a good bond with the coaching staff. Wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales is one of the best recruiters at the position and Napier was voted the best recruiter in the country in 2014 by ESPN when he was Alabama's wide receivers coach.
Wingo currently has the highest prediction percentage on On3 Sports at 40.8% with their biggest competition being Miami at 31%. His visit this weekend will be the sixth time he's been in Gainesville, and one week after he visited Coral Gables.
Don't be surprised if we see Wingo commit after his visit this weekend, especially with official visits being successful for the Gators.
