Florida in great position to secure commitment of elite recruit that Gators HC Billy Napier needs for 2026 recruiting class
Ken Ruinard - staff / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Florida Gators recruiting class for the 2026 cycle isn't one this highly thought of. Head coach Billy Napier has struggled in both getting players to commit to the program and keeping them around.

It hasn't been one thing that has been the biggest hindrance to keeping players committed, which is arguably more frustrating. It's been anything from the departure of an assistant coach to NIL money being better at the new school.

Florida Gators working hard to secure five-star wide receiver

Wide receiver was one of the better positions in the Gators' 2025 recruiting class. They landed two of the top prospects in the class in Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III. Wilson lit up the Orange & Blue spring game with school records 10 receptions and 195 yards. He also had two touchdowns.

With J. Michael Sturdivant in his final year of eligibility, and Eugene Wilson III likely heading to the NFL if he has a great season, it becomes more of a priority. They are working on five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan, who said that everything "is going great" with the Gators.

Morgan is consisdered a five-star recruit per On3 Sports' Industry Ranking, along with being the 19th overall prospect and number two wide receiver in the nation. Hailing from Alexander City, Alabama, the Alabama Crimson Tide are seen to have an advantage right now, with an 89.4% prediction by On3 Sports.

The Gators sit with just a 2.6% chance, but he's already visited campus three times and has an official visit scheduled for June 6th. Florida is one of six schools where Morgan has an official visit scheduled, with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and Colorado all scheduled as well.

With the presence of DJ Lagway and Morgan's pedigree, he could slide in really nicely to a receiving room that could use him next year.
