‘Florida made a pitch last night’ - Gators have their eyes on upsetting Ohio State for an elite five-star recruit

Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier has been working hard to bolster the 2026 recruiting class, and that work won't stop until the second national signing day comes in February. The quest to find a five-star is still in the works for Gators, but Napier and his staff have been consistent in trying to make that happen.

The one that has been a consistent target is safety Bralan Womack. They have been working hard to bring him into the fold, and he would be great for Ron Roberts and Vinnie Sunseri to work with.

Rivals' Steve Wiltfong talked about Womack's recruitment, and the Gators made a big pitch for him ahead of his commitment date of August 21st.

“Right now it’s getting crazy,” Womack’s father BJ said on Monday morning. “Everybody wants to call and give a final pitch which we’ve already heard. It’s going to be crazy leading up to the 21st. Everyone trying to come strong with their offers. Of course he’s going to do what’s best for him. We’re just playing it by ear and letting him take his time with his decision. All four are still in it.

“Florida made a pitch last night. He liked what he was hearing from them.”

Making a pitch for Womack isn't a new thing. They've been doing that for quite some time. Where things get really interesting is this might be the final pitch, as Womack's dad, BJ, told Wiltfong. It's also interesting that the Buckeyes, who have long been favored to land Womack, have yet to do so.

Wiltfong also highlights that development is the top factor in Womack's decision. The Gators can offer high-upside development throughout his tenure in Gainesville. They have been mentioned among the schools that have a claim to DBU, but the recent track record hasn't been that strong.

However, landing and developing a player like Womack would go a long way toward changing that opinion.
