Florida QB Kyle Trask declares for 2021 NFL Draft

Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask had a night to forget when he tossed three interceptions while playing without his four best wide receivers in Wednesday's Goodyear Cotton Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Less than 24 hours after Oklahoma trounced Florida 55-20, Trask announced via social media that he's entering the 2021 NFL Draft.

As Andrea Adelson noted for ESPN, Trask set Gators records by tossing 43 touchdowns and throwing for 4,283 yards. The Heisman Trophy finalist went for 408 passing yards and three touchdowns against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game that Alabama won back on Dec. 19. That was Trask's fifth and, ultimately, final 400-yard passing performance of the campaign and also of his collegiate career.

Trask is somewhat of a polarizing figure in mock drafts and boards as 2020 concludes. Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports and Walter Football recently listed the signal-caller as a first-round selection for 2021. On Dec. 17, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Trask as the No. 6 quarterback in the upcoming draft class.

As of Tuesday, Walter Football's Charlie Campbell believed Trask could fall out of even the second round.

"Three directors of college scouting and a national scout have told me that Trask is a better pocket passer than (Ohio State QB) Justin Fields, in part because Trask lacks mobility, so he has developed good pocket awareness by default," Campbell wrote. "An AFC general manager told me that he thinks Trask will be a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

"Trask has displayed serious pocket-passing ability for the NFL. He has been very accurate in terms of impressive ball placement, timing, field vision, and decision making. Helped by a powerful arm capable of making touch passes, Trask has put on display some natural passing ability in every game. Trask's lack of mobility and teams viewing him as a statue in the pocket are hurting him, but team sources think Trask could be a riser."
