"I want to compete with the best," Timmons bluntly told the recruiting analyst.

He also called OSU "the standard that I need to push me."

It's clear his father's alma mater (dad is FSU legend Lawrence Timmons) didn't offer what the son was seeking in the end. His visit to Columbus for the Penn State game all but assured that Timmons was joining the Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day land the nation's No. 2 ranked cornerback. Tim Walton ran the charge to flip Timmons to the Buckeyes.

Analyst Raves About New Ohio State Commit's Game

Count Charles Power of On3/Rivals who loves what Timmons brings to the field, and for the Buckeyes.

"Hyper-instinctual defensive back with playmaking ability, physicality, and athleticism that make him one of the top pure football players in the 2026 cycle," Power began in his prospect evaluation.

Power adds how Timmons: "Measured at around 5-foot-10.5, 185 with 30.5-inch arms before his senior season. Improved his athleticism between his junior and senior seasons, running a 10.90 in the 100 meters and testing as an elite athlete in the combine setting."

Ohio State fans will likely love his reactive quickness and how he reads then jumps on routes. Power also calls him "a football magnet and defensive playmaker who looks to force turnovers."

The 5-foot-11 talent brings physicality to the field too, which benefits the future of Ohio State's run defense. Timmons aims to bury his shoulder into ball carriers and knock them backward.
