Florida State Running Back to Enter NCAA Transfer Portal
USA TODAY Sports

With the college football season nearing an end, the transfer portal season is in full swing. The Florida State Seminoles have seen a wave of players make their way out of Tallahassee. Redshirt freshman running back Rodney Hill joins that list of players as he announces his plans to enter the transfer portal.

Joining the program in 2022, Hill appeared in just four games, tallying 144 rushing yards on 27 attempts. This past season, he had the Seminoles' third-most touches at the running back position, putting up 190 rushing yards on 50 carries and getting into the end zone one time. He added 83 receiving yards on five catches, too.

Hill joined the program as a three-star running back and a top 50 player in Georgia in the 2022 recruiting class.

As the Seminoles are in the thick of portal season, they now have the opportunity to explore running back options for next season, assuming Trey Benson declares for the 2024 NFL Draft. There would have been room for opportunity for Hill, had he decided to return to the program.

"I wanna thank my coaches and FSU for bringing me in,Much love to all my teammates and to the strength staff and trainers that have worked with me while I been here but I will be entering the transfer portal," Hill wrote on social media

The Seminoles will likely see key contributions from Lawrance Toafili next season, but they'll need to fill out the depth for the running back position, especially as CJ Campbell Jr. has also entered the transfer portal. Assuming Benson declares for the draft, Caziah Holmes and Samuel Singleton Jr. will be the two backs behind Toafili for the Orange Bowl against Georgia.

With two running backs in the portal, it'll be interesting to see how the Seminoles opt to fill that void for next season as Florida State enters a new era at some key positions.

The Orange Bowl will take place on Dec. 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN.
