The Florida State Seminoles, despite having one of the worst years in the history of their program last season, still recruited very well.
Head coach Mike Norvell has always recruited well, but for having a season where he just won two games, he was able to get some very good players in his 2025 class. And those are players that we could very well see play some big roles very frequently in 2025.
We know the offense needs a lot of work compared to where they were last year. But, we have also talked about the fact that this is almost a completely different team than last year’s, with three of the projected starters on offense being three who were on the team last year. That’s eight new starters on offense.
Granted, they have gotten better at almost every single position on paper. One of the positions that should be better is the wide receiver room, especially when you factor in the young depth they’re going to have.
One of the freshmen they have coming in that room has the potential to be one of the best in football.
The Seminoles got transfer receiver Duce Robinson from USC this offseason. Robinson, a big wide receiver, and a really good one, mentioned that Jayvan Boggs was a guy everyone needs to be on the lookout for.
"He’s incredible,” Robinson told reporters after one fall camp practice. “He has everything that it takes to be the best player in college football, the best freshman in college football... he is going to be a really really big problem in college football. He can block, his ball skills are unbelievable…burst, route running. That dude is a dog and he’s going to be a really big problem.”
Boggs is 6’1”, 211 pounds, and a freak athlete. He was the No. 12 wide receiver in the country, but the Seminoles don’t always use recruiting sites grading system. They feel like he;s much better than that.
And, so do his teammates.
Boggs is currently predicted to be the second string slot receiver behind Squirrel White, who is now healthy and recovered. If he can find his way on the field, I’m thinking the whole country may start to see some of what Robinson is talking about.
