Florida State's Jammie Robinson selected In Fifth-Round of NFL Draft by Carolina Panthers

It was Day Three of the 2023 NFL Draft, and anticipation was building as players eagerly waited for their names to be called to walk across the stage in Kansas City, Missouri. Day One saw players like Alabama QB Bryce Young get taken first overall to the Carolina Panthers followed by Ohio State QB CJ Stroud and Alabama LB Will Anderson Jr. go second and third to the Houston Texans.

Last year, defensive end Jermaine Johnson II was selected 26th overall in the first round by the New York Jets, starting a new trend of Seminoles making their way to the NFL. This year, the trend continued as Jammie Robinson received cheers from his family, friends, and fans after being selected by the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers drafted Robinson with the No. 145 overall pick in the fifth round.

Robinson is coming off a remarkable career at Florida State, leading the team in tackles last season with 99 total stops, five for a loss, one forced fumble, an interception and a sack. Overall, during his two seasons at Florida State, he played in 25 games and recorded 183 tackles, 88 solo, 13 passes defended, five interceptions and a sack.

Transferring from South Carolina in 2021, he recorded 136 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, two interceptions, eight passes defended and one forced fumble in two seasons with the Gamecocks, and was named Freshman All-SEC in 2019.

The back-to-back First-Team All-ACC selection is a downhill player who plays with an extremely high motor, and although he didn't grade the best at the NFL Combine, his game seems faster, aided by his ability to know where the ball is and be in the correct position to make a play. He's not the prototypical body type for an NFL safety, but he makes up for it with his twitchiness and quick first step. He graded out in 2022 at 80.1 against the run and has shown he is a solid tackler with a grade of 88.0 per PFF.
