Florida vs USF Prediction: Which Florida Team Will Stay Hot?

All of a sudden, USF could be the hottest team in the country.

After opening up with a crushing 34-7 win over Boise State, the Bulls get this date in Gainesville, and then comes a trip down to Miami. Somehow split those, and with no Tulane on the American slate, the College Football Playoff talk will crank up.

But first, USF has to beat Florida for the first time in three chances.

Florida did what it was supposed to in a 55-0 laugher against FIU, and there can’t be any messing around here with at LSU, at Miami, Texas, and at Texas A&M up next.

Why USF Will Win

Byrum Brown has the talent to be one of THOSE guys.

Injured for a bulk of last year, the do-it-all quarterback came out roaring against. Boise State, throwing for 210 yards and running for 43 yards and two touchdowns in a flawless performance.

He’ll have to deal with the attacking Gator defensive front, but if he’s the best player on the field - at least on Saturday - the Bulls have a chance.

Why Florida Will Win

Stopping the Gator pass rush won’t be a breeze.

Boise State might have been stomped on, but it hung out in the USF backfield when Brown was trying to make things happen.

Florida didn’t unleash the hounds against LIU, but the line has the right combination of bulk and athleticism to power its way to Brown.

And Florida has a quarterback, too. The USF secondary wasn’t a rock against Boise State’s Maddux Madsen, and now it’ll deal with a potentially fantastic Gator passing game.

It was target practice time for DJ Lagway against LIU, and he looked and played in midseason form - the Gators looked like they were playing against ten men on defense.

Florida Will Bring the Full Effort Against the Bulls

USF has the parts to make this more than a walkover for the SEC side, but Florida can’t and won’t play around.

With that brutal schedule ahead, this will be a fully focused effort and a much better win than it might get credit for. Brown will be good, Lagway and the Gator defense will be more consistent.
