GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida sophomore wide receiver Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman is set to enter the NCAA transfer portal upon its Dec. 4 winter window opening for underclassmen, according to On3 Sports.
Chiaokhiao-Bowman, a native of Minneapolis, Minn., transferred to Florida ahead of the 2022 season after spending that spring at Independence Community College. He joined the junior college following one season at St. Thomas More College Preparatory School in Connecticut, where he enrolled following his high school career at Plymouth (Minn.) Armstrong.
Chiaokhiao-Bowman quickly emerged as a special teams presence during his debut campaign with Florida, occupying roles on the kick and punt coverage units in all but one game during the season. He also took the field in nine games offensively, posting seven receptions for 138 yards.
However, Chiaokhiao-Bowman only made two appearances in his second season with the Gators in 2023, limited to a combined 18 special teams snaps against Missouri and Florida State. He finished the year with one tackle.
Chiaokhiao-Bowman is the ninth member of Florida's 2023 roster with known plans to transfer this offseason.
Defensive back Jadarrius Perkins entered the transfer portal as a graduate student following Week 2, offensive tackle Jordan Herman unofficially left the team after Week 11, tight end Jonathan Odom and kicker Adam Mihalek revealed their plans to transfer on Sunday, and it was reported that defensive back Kamari Wilson, defensive lineman Will Norman, quarterback Max Brown and wide receiver Caleb Douglas intend to look elsewhere on Wednesday.
This is a breaking news story that will be updated as further details emerge.
