Florida's Ethan White to miss season opener after knee surgery

As noted by the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen confirmed to reporters on Monday that sophomore offensive lineman Ethan White will miss Saturday's season opener against Ole Miss after he underwent knee surgery.

Mullen added, however, that he expects to have White back "shortly." The versatile White was expected to make the transition from guard to center for the pandemic-altered campaign. Senior Brett Heggie will now likely start at center versus Ole Miss.

White reacted to the setback via Twitter:

As Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports wrote, Mullen also confirmed on Monday that freshman cornerback Ethan Pouncey is out for the year after he underwent hip surgery.
