Former Alabama quarterback, AJ McCarron feels Germie Bernard and former Tide wideout, Kevin Norwood, share a similar valuable trait.
Norwood served as one of McCarron’s favorite targets at Alabama. The Biloxi, Mississippi product pulled in 78 receptions for 1,219 yards and 11 touchdowns with McCarron as his starting quarterback during a time when Alabama’s offense was mostly known for its ability to run the football. Norwood was a dependable option for McCarron, and the former Tide signal-caller feels Bernard brings a similar level of dependability to the football field.
“I think he’s a sure-handed guy,” McCarron said while discussing Bernard on “The Dynasty Podcast.” “I think he’s more explosive than what Kev was from a yards-after-catch standpoint because he can split them and take it to the house. I think he’s shown that. But that’s who I would view him as. That’s an awesome comparison. He is one of the greatest, I think, to ever do it at the receiver position and definitely one of the most underrated.”
On the same podcast episode, McCarron referred to Bernard as the most underrated player on the Alabama roster.
“[Germie] Bernard, I think, is the most underrated guy on the team,” McCarron said. “They should have gotten him the ball. I love that dude. I love watching him play. Great routes. Catches the ball in traffic. I think he is a playmaker at all times.”
