Former Alabama WR Traeshon Holden reinstated at Oregon as charges are dropped
Gary Cosby Jr.-USA TODAY Sports

Traeshon Holden will be returning to the Oregon Ducks this fall.

After seeing three charges which included accusations of felony unlawful use of a weapon, coercion and misdemeanor menacing against him nine days ago all charges were dismissed on Saturday.

Following the review of body cam footage along with interviews, Eugene police opted to not move forward with the case.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning released a statement welcoming back Holden to the team.

“Following the release of new information from the Lane County District Attorney’s office, student-athlete Traeshon Holden has been reinstated to the Oregon football team,” Lanning said in a statement. “We will always take allegations of this nature very seriously. However, when new information is provided by authorities, such as in this instance, disciplinary action will be reevaluated and adjusted when appropriate.”

According to The Oregonian/Oregon Live, Lane County deputy district attorney Chris Parosa shared that the body cam footage showed Holden making a “legitimate attempt to de-escalate” a dispute with his girlfriend which was what originally led to his charges.

The Euegene police had also responded to calls involving a domestic dispute and possible shots fired which was ultimately disproven.

Holden also released a brief statement on his return to the Ducks.

“I’m happy to have been exonerated, and I’m looking forward to a great season with the Ducks,” Holden said in a statement from his lawyer per The Oregonian/Oregon Live.

Holden played 30 career games with the Crimson Tide after arriving in 2020. He caught 46 passes for 570 yards and seven touchdowns in his tenure in Tuscaloosa before entering the transfer portal last December.
