Former Auburn All-SEC defensive back Keionte Scott is nearing a decision after entering the transfer portal this spring.
Scott (6-foot, 192 pounds) originally signed with the Tigers in the class of 2022. The four-star recruited was rated as the No. 1 JUCO cornerback when coming out of Snow College, where he was a two-time JUCO All-American.
Scott, a San Diego native, was an instant-impact player for the Tigers, totaling 53 tackles (4 for loss) with a sack, four pass breakups and an interception in 12 games.
He built on that output in 2023 while adding duties as a kick returner. Scott led the SEC in punt return average (14.8), returned a punt for a touchdown and totaled 44 tackles (2 for loss) with five pass breakups that season.
After earning All-SEC Second-Team honors from Athlon Sports, Scott entered the 2024 season as one of the top corners in the SEC.
But his production dropped off due, in part, to an ankle injury that limited him to 18 tackles with a career-low 6.3-yard punt return average in 11 games.
Scott committed to the Houston Cougars during the winter transfer window and went through spring practice before entering the portal again before the April 25 deadline.
According to a prediction from On3's Pete Nakos, Scott is expected to land to the Miami Hurricanes and head coach Mario Cristobal after a 10-3 season in 2024.
Scott, who has one-year of eligibility remaining, could help revive a Miami unit that disappointed last season with the 68th ranked scoring defense.
Cristobal and Co. have made some major changes by bringing in new defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman and Zac Etheridge, Miami's new defensive backs coach that was hired from Houston.
Scott played under Etheridge at Auburn and was expected to play for the familiar assistant with the Cougars in 2025.
The Hurricanes currently hold the nation's No. 3 transfer class (247Sports), including 17 commitments with nine four-star additions.
