Former ASU quarterback named assistant coach for upcoming season

Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham adds a new coach to his staff that Sun Devils fans will recognize. Former ASU quarterback Trenton Bourguet seemingly will join Dillingham as an assistant running backs coach heading into next season, according to Bourguet X’s account bio.

During his five-year career as a Sun Devil, Bourguet appeared in 22 games and recorded 3,162 passing yards for 14 touchdowns. The Tucson native became a fan favorite because of his loyalty and commitment to the program through all the turbulence. From Herm Edwards to Dillingham, Bourguet has seen it all and has expertly kept hope alive for fans, leading to last year’s success.

Bourguet will join former interim head coach and current running backs coach Shaun Aguano. During Edwards’ last season, where ASU went 3-9, the duo asserted that the program was heading in the right direction and they would help restore the standards to greater heights.

Their attitude helped Dillingham’s claim to “activate the valley” work because they laid the groundwork. Now, Aguano and Bourguet will try to activate the running back room with the departure of star Cam Skattebo.
